How we became peregrinos

It was not so long ago that I did not even knew about the Camino de Santiago.

My good friend Christo and his wife Nelda, are seasoned travelers and they started to talk about the camino some months ago. To me this sounded a bit far off, but that was my own limited vision.

They said 'Lets go in September 2014'. At first I ignored them.

Then they invited us for a tapas evening and asked if they could show us a powerpoint presentation. We thought it was to test a work related presentation that Nelda had prepared in the course of her work.  Great was our surprise when it turned out to be a fully researched presentation to invite us for a camino trip - this one in Italy which is called the way of St Francis.

We became exited but it was not to be. They could not get leave and the plan was put on ice.
Christo said we must go alone, but that sounded crazy to me to go alone. He kept pushing their idea and gradually my mindset changed. With a bit of motivation from my wife as well, it became an possibility in my mind.

As our pastor teach us:  'We are shaped by other people in our lives.'

Then Bruce (the pastor), became a peregrino on the Camino de Santiago.  The stories he told about his experiences became the convincing factor that got me going in organizing our own journey.

So here we are, me and Belinda, all set to leave for Spain in the middle of September 2014.
